Going to start off the new year by enjoying some sweet treats- who cares about any diet. Hiding in a corner on the bottom floor of a building on East 5th Street in Edmond is Dolci Paradiso. They have all kinds of treats from gelato to cheesecakes to cupcakes.
My personal favorite are their cannoli’s- when I was in college at OU, my grandmother would get fresh cannolis sent to her from an Italian bakery in Rochester, New York (where my grandfather was from), they were so delightful. The shells were always crisp and the filling was the perfect blend of ricotta and sugar with chocolate chips added. It has been hard for me to find good ones here in Oklahoma since she passed in 1996. I was stupid and never got the name of the bakery, so cannolis were off the menu for me. I have found them at a few places but they just weren’t right, until I tried Dolci’s. Same crisp shells, either dipped in chocolate or plain, with the same true ricotta filling that I had been missing. These cannolis aren’t filled until you order them so the shells stay crisp. The cannoli’s are my absolute favorite at Dolci but they have other good treats as well.
The frosted sugar cookies are good, fresh baked with icing on top. Their cake pops are also incredibly good, moist cake covered with a chocolate shell. Cupcakes are similar to the cake pops, moist cake with icing. The macarons were good, fresh baked, different flavors for each season. Crisp on the outside with flavored fillings, they melt in your mouth. I have also tried a few different flavors of gelato, smooth, much better than normal ice cream. I haven’t gotten a chance to try their cheesecakes but will soon.
So if you are looking for a different treat, stop and try them out. Great service every time I’m there, they even have a rewards system, so bonus points for ruining your diet. I have only been to the Edmond location so I can’t comment on the Oklahoma City store but if it’s run the same way you should have the same good experience. I give them 5 strips of bacon.
