Come and travel Oklahoma with me.

Big Daddy burger carOn my last trip to southwest Oklahoma, we stopped in Altus for dinner.  The family road trip rule is that we don’t eat at any place that you can find in Oklahoma City.  So that forces us to try new places.  So after driving around Altus we found a VW bug with a knife sticking through it out in front of a burger place.  With advertising like that we had to stop and try Fat Daddy’s Grill and Drive-Thru.

We started with the Chicken Fried Bacon, which is just what you think it is- bacon that’s been breaded and deep fried.  It was so good, I even convinced Mae to eat some (and she hates bacon).  Next up was the burgers- I had the Mushroom Swiss.  Cooked to medium well, it was a good sized burger with good taste to it.  Served with a side of crispy onion rings, it was a nice meal.  My husband had the Chili Cheeseburger, it was huge and of course he loved it.  Mae just had a small cheese burger with fried okra as her side, lets just say she didn’t complain.  They did have other items on the menu, I would like to go back to try some of the other offerings including the desserts.  Service was good, atmosphere was nice as well.  Only real complaint was that the bathroom was very small.

Since I don’t live in Altus, I can’t really compare it to any other places in town.  What I can say is that if they were here in the city, they would rank 4 strips of bacon.  So because of their location I’m giving them 5 strips of bacon.  So something to think about the next time you’re in the area.

Address: 901 N. Main, Altus.
